3G Technology on Mobile Phones

Third generation technology, better known as 3G technology has hit the United States and is here to stay. What 3G doesnรขโฌโขt do is have an obvious impact on the look, fell or design of a cellular phone. However, what 3G does dose is promise faster communication services which include fax, voice, and even internet services. This can be offered 3G uses seamless global roaming. New multimedia entertainment and applications are able to be used to their maximum capability because of the 3G network. The first 3G network was actually released in Japan, and is now offered in the United States by companies like Cingular.

Along the same lines of 3G technology, Verizon has decided along with Sprint/Nextel to offer their own version of 3G services but is called Ed-Vo. Other companies such as T-Mobile donรขโฌโขt plan to roll out this technology with their services until 2007. So what is 3G technology exactly? This technology will bring wireless data services to your phone like youรขโฌโขve never seen them before. This technology boasts speeds about three times faster than a 56 Kbps connection to 2.4Mbps connection speed, equivalent to using a cable modem. 3G networks allow users to easily and quickly read through web pages, watch streaming music videos, and use video conferencing to its fullest.

The experience you will have while using 3G technology with a cellular phone will be one close to using your home computer with a broadband connection. It seems that hand held computers are definitely the way of the future. With each company committing to spending billions of dollars to upgrade to a 3G network, this technology is surely worth the price we will all undoubtedly pay. But with a loss each company will take to upgrade, comes a need to gain customers, so look for new and improved handsets to launch when your favorite company upgrades to using this system.

Cell Phone Celebrities: Stars on Your Cell Phone

Maybe you like how they look and the clothes they wear, admire their talent or the role they currently play on the TV, or simply like having their faces on your cellular phone screen. Maybe you took pictures of when you met them, and you intend to prove to everyone you know that you did meet them. Whatever the reason, celebrities continue to occupy the mobile phones of many subscribers.

A camera phone makes a convenience out of taking photos of friends and odd sceneries, and practicing basic photography skills. Doing so will provide a whole range of options for changing wallpapers and screensavers on your phone. On the other hand, for the eager entertainment fan, a mobile phone equipped with a good digital camera proves useful, particularly in documenting his or her celebrity encounters. After all, what better way to tell your story than with a visual aid?

However, not all celebrity fanatics have the time, energy, or interest in becoming the paparazzi. Thanks to the innovations developed by mobile telecommunications providers, your pictures are just one of the ways through which celebrities can occupy your cellular phone. Some service providers also offer voice tones of your favorite celebrities, as well as ring tone versions of songs of your favorite musical act. Other similar products are cell phone wallpaper versions of movie posters, photos of the celebrities taken on the red carpet, awards night pictures, and sometimes even prison mug shots of celebrities who were previously arrested.

Aside from the pleasure of having the latest photos and images downloaded right to your cell phone, the primary use of these features, if nothing else, is to provide you with choices to fiddle with to pass the time. For instance, your cell phone can look like Angelina Jolie one day, and Ewan McGregor the next. You can also switch songs for ring tones to match your mood, or change movie themed wallpapers according to whatรขโฌโขs showing in the theaters. Sometimes you may even want to swap your photos with those of another celebrity fanatic through Blue Tooth. If a day comes, however, when you suddenly feel like trading your cell phone celebrities for cartoon like images, feel no despair. It is, after all, just a download away.

Other wallpaper options for your phone are pictures of scenic spots, such as the beach at sunset, the city skyline, and snow-covered mountains; cute photos of babies, pets, dolls and little trinkets; graphic illustrations of your favorite characters; farm animals; holiday themes, such as Christmas and Halloween; cartoons in 3D and manga; tattoo designs and calligraphy; country flags, jets and cars. Meanwhile, other ring tone options include advertising sound clips, video game sound bytes, as well as excerpts from musicals, movie and television themes, and even the national anthems of different countries.

Ringtones.lt is a site specialising in the different genres of mobile ringtones, and Nokia wallpapers including celebrity wallpapers.

Save Your Life With This Cellphone Addon

Everybody does it and everyone hates you when you do it. To minimize the risks for you and everyone around you, we suggest that you buy a headset immediately. Do not delay! Driving a car and talking on a cell phone is dangerous.

Youรขโฌโขve seen the signs! Goofy behavior such as speeding up or down for no accountable reason, weaving all over their lane of traffic, not stopping at stop signs or stopping too long, gong too fast or too slow and a host of other strange, dumb and erratic movements. Stop the madness!

The headset you select should give you hands free cell phone operation. This will allow you to give more attention to your driving. Headsets should be standard equipment for anyone who spends a lot of time on their vehicles. If everyone had these items, lives could be saved.

While youรขโฌโขre at it, you should also purchase a car holder for your phone. Place the mount on your car dashboard within easy reach of the driver. This is for the driverรขโฌโขs convenience and not for passengers. If you prefer it to be on the left side where you reach it best, then go ahead and put it there.

Of course, the safest place to talk on the phone while youรขโฌโขre in your car is usually at the side of the road. However, thatรขโฌโขs not always the safest place nor is it always convenient. At least minimize the risks and get these accessories now.

Your passengers and the other drivers on the road will appreciate these purchases.

There are also many other handy addons and doodads for cell phones. Women will especially appreciate a pouch that they attach to their purse or anywhere else they want. Often times youรขโฌโขll see a woman frantically rummaging through their purses for their ringing cell phone. Men seem to gravitate toward holders on their belt. These holders also offer some protection against scratches and breakage.

If style is a priority, then check out faceplates. There are faceplates in all colors and styles. You might even be able to match your faceplate with your wallpaper. You could even synchronize your ringtone to the same theme.

Less glamorous but just as helpful could be a backup battery. However, this is becoming less and less useful as cell phone batteries improve and stay charged for longer periods of time. Youรขโฌโขd probably be better off to have a car adapter which you can use to preserve and recharge your battery. If you are the forgetful type you should consider a battery backup. But then youรขโฌโขd probably forget to plugin the backup in anyway.

Your local discount store may have some of the things you need. Although they will most likely have the best prices, their selection is also probably quite limited. You can also buy accessories from the same place you bought your phone. They however, will also probably have the highest price.

The internet is ideal place to find the largest selection at the best price. With the wide variety of phones on the marketplace today, itรขโฌโขs hard for anyone else to be able to stock that much merchandise and maintain a reasonable price.

At freecellularphoneco.com you can browse though online lists from competitive vendors. They have a least 10,000 items in their lists, with many more available via search. You can also use this as a resource for price comparison against your local sources.

Cell phones accessories can be practical, safe and fun. Youรขโฌโขve spent a lot of money on these mobile phones; you might as well enjoy them to their fullest. With the availability of all these options, you have no excuse for not having a headset. Youรขโฌโขll be glad you did!

Mobile Phone Thefts

According to statistics, last year there were 1.3 million mobile handset thefts in Britain. That is one every 24 seconds. Mobile phone theft now accounts for nearly a third of all robberies reported to the police.

Add to this the many thousands of phones which are accidentally damaged and the cost of unauthorised calls if your phone was stolen.

You should give as much consideration to insurance as you do to the choice of your mobile phone. Insure you phone is a simple way to protect yourself against the expense and inconvenience having to replace your mobile phone.

Many people believe that if they do not have a mobile phone the contract will be cancelled. Whether you have the phone in your possession or not, you are still liable for 12 months line rental. The cost of replacing a mobile phone without a new contract can cost hundreds of pounds.

The free handset you receive when you sign a twelve month contract with your service provider can cost up to รยฃ1000 to replace if you lose or damage it.

This is because your network (T-Mobile, Vodaphone etc.) discounted your handset because you are promising them 12 months of your business.

Mobile phones remain the number one target for muggers** .

Approximately 1 in 5 car crime victims will have their mobile phone stolen**

Mobile Phone Shops Offer the Best Deals Online

In light of the high street outlets offering better deals than the networks, exactly where should we be looking for the best mobile phone deals?

As soon as something closes in your High Street or shopping centre you can be almost certain that a few short weeks later it will reopen as a mobile phone shop. Such is the proliferation of mobile phones in recent years that we have created a distinct retail industry within the last ten years. Business is clearly booming for everyone concerned with the mobile phone market รขโฌโ the networks, manufacturers and retailers all have their eye on our wallet the very moment our existing contract expire.

The problem for consumers is that with an increased market size come increased consumer choice and finding the best deal becomes increasingly complicated. The networks themselves and the ubiquitous mobile phone shops offer a multitude of combinations of packages, handsets and incentives all of which seem to conflict with one another and before long you end up in a confused mire of free minutes, text messages, accessories and special offer gifts. The problem with choice is making sure that you get the best deal and donรขโฌโขt find a cheaper or better alternative once youรขโฌโขve signed on the dotted line.

The answer is to do your research and comparing deals across the networks and retailers to find the cheapest rate, best handset or contract features to suit your budget. The best place for this is online where the major mobile phone shops and retailers all have a presence. Online mobile phone shops tend to have the best deals as they eliminate the usual overheads associated with the lease and staffing of the premises. The savings that the retailers make can be passed on to the customer resulting in better deals on your mobile phone.

Any site that offers packages from a range of networks allows you to search and compare packages and prices to make sure that youรขโฌโขre making the right choice to fit your pocket and getting that package that fits your lifestyle. Mobile phone shopping resources are readily available online with sites like http://www.reviewcentre.com allowing you to get an unbiased view on what you are getting for your money.

When your contract is up, check online before popping into the local mobile phone shop to check that you are getting the best deal. You just might save yourself a few pounds or possibly end up with a better combination of free minutes, text message, accessories, special offer giftsรขโฌยฆรขโฌยฆรขโฌยฆ.

Cell Phone and Children!

I just heard from my sister in the U.S. who wished me a Happy New Year. She told me that my soon-to-be 14-year-old nephew got a cell phone for Christmas. I am trying desperately to understand this.

To give you a little background, I worked for A.T. & T. when they unveiled this amazing technology. I can still remember the material the company put out about cellular phones. I was simply amazed. I remember thinking this invention could be a wonderful help for people.

The group of people I thought would benefit most were doctors. They could be called and would be able to give medical advice and instruction at a momentรขโฌโขs notice. The old way was inefficient and slow. Doctors had to answer a pager, get to phone, find change or fumble with a phone card (which was always expired), and then call the hospital. Meantime, Mrs. Johnson had to deliver her own baby because Dr. Abdul wasnรขโฌโขt able to get off the Interstate to answer his page.

Now, doctors, the group which benefits from this Star Trek technology, can be called almost anywhere on the planet. Mrs. Johnson no longer has to have her babies by herself. Although other professions most certainly benefit from this wonderful advance in communications, it was the medical guys that first popped into my mind.

But, a 14-year-old boy? Cell phones for children? I find this idea almost impossible to grasp. I would love to tell you that giving cell phones to minor children is an idea limited to the decadently overindulged Americans and that Mexicans would NOT commit such a horror. But I would be lying. In this small, colonial Mexican town, where you simply could yell out the window if you needed to communicate (who needs phones, anyway?), Mexican parents buy their teenage (and younger) children cell phones.

Why? Why? Why? Someone tell me why!

So, in trying to figure this out, I want to run some reasons by you about why an almost 14-year-old child might need a cell phone.

รขโฌยข The New World Order (a.k.a. King G. Bush the First) is run by immature and unthinking children who have formed a secret society called The Children and Crossbones. This has to be the case since no thinking, mature adult would have our country in the toilet that it is in now. The kids control everything and everyone. They have to have their cell phones to keep in close and intimate contact with whomever they need to direct.

รขโฌยข Doctors are now graduating from Medical School at the age of 13 and have to have those unbearable cell phones to save their patientรขโฌโขs lives. They are the new generation of Dougie Howser, M.D.

รขโฌยข Every child you see with a cell phoneรขโฌโand I mean every child without exceptionรขโฌโhas such personal family problems that a parent might have to call them at any moment and say, "Quick, take a cab to the hospital! Granny is on her last leg!"

รขโฌยข The CIA (and right now, this might be the most believable of these options) is run by 13-year-olds. They have to call in their spying reports and could not do this without their wonderfully annoying cell phones.

รขโฌยข All the 13-year-olds with cell phones are actually members of the American Press Corps (another possible idea considering the state of the American press) and have to have cell phones to call in their stories.

As much as I would like to believe one of these scenarios as a possibility, I am afraid the truth is that unthinking parents give their children cell phones as status symbols.

No child needs a cell phone! Not one!

Just like upper middle-class Americans think they need to drive huge, gas-guzzling SUVรขโฌโขs because the Jonesรขโฌโขs have one, they think their little Buffys and Chads need to have cell phones.

Because all their friends have cell phones, they have to have them too.

Have you wondered if the Minuteman Project is really on the "up and up"? Have you wondered if they represent all that is good and right with Americaรขโฌโparagons of patriotic virtue? Doug Bower may have the answers you've been looking for.

Mobile phones: More Than a Style Statement

Mobile phones are a great device to talk to anyone in the planet from just about anywhere. Mobile phone designs are the most basic attraction feature for consumers. They are used as a fashion accessory nowadays because of the interesting features like the radio, polyphonic ringtones, games, wallpapers, etc. Mobile phones may be seen not only as a necessary accessory but also as a communication device that reflects and embodies the userรขโฌโขs style. Most of the users want mobile phones for the style rather than functions. So mobile phones are now being sold as status and fashion symbols. Many people feel that their phone defines their personality and their individuality. As you plan your wardrobe for the seasons ahead, you also accessorize your mobile phone with accessories.

The ever-growing mobile phone industry is transforming the consumerรขโฌโขs perception about mobile phones. Mobile phones today serve a completely new purpose. No longer is it used only to call the people you know at any time or place, but also take pictures and send emails etc. What appeals to the majority of consumers is the uniqueness of a handset, the colour, the appearance and the design. They look for entertainment features like music player, ringtones, games, video clips. They want to go with the most up to date ringtones and wallpapers. These ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers have become an essential part of their mobile phoneรขโฌโขs life. They are looking for pretty, pleasing, small, colourful, sleeker, mobile phones. The newest mobile phones are definitely designed to give a new meaning to todayรขโฌโขs communication world. With the consumers responding positively to the latest technology, the mobile industry is continually evolving with more and more advanced features.

Consumers tend to change their handsets whenever they find a new feature or technology launched in the market. A good design makes products easier to use as well as interesting to look at or comment on. But the height of fashion doesn't always mean good design. The growing number of mobile-savvy, style-conscious consumers want more than just modern technology, they want a mobile phone that reflects the latest fashion trends and appeals to their highly individualised sense of style.

GSM Communication Interceptor

Throughout the evolution of cellular telecommunications, various systems were developed without the benefit of standardized specifications. This presented many problems directly related to compatibility, especially with the development of digital radio technology. In 1982, The GSM group ("Groupe Spรยฉcial Mobile" (French) was formed to address these problems.

Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) is the most popular standard for mobile phones in the world. GSM service is used by over 2 billion people across more than 210 countries and territories.

Data communication was built into the system from the very begining. GSM is an open standard which is currently developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The advantage for network operators has been the ability to deploy equipment from different vendors because the open standard allows easy inter-operability.

Easy inter operability definitely raises the question for security. Is the system Secure? Can the security be breached?

GSM was designed with a moderate level of security. The system was designed to authenticate the subscriber using shared-secret cryptography. Communications between the subscriber and the base station can be encrypted .The development of UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) introduces an optional USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module-the 3G equivalent of the GSM SIM), that uses a longer authentication key to give greater security, as well as mutually authenticating the network and the user - whereas GSM only authenticated the user to the network (and not vice versa).

Keeping this in mind,Communication intelligence groups have been continuously working for developing various systems which can help you intercept any system of mobile communications.

One such system is a GSM Interceptor, a system which is compact, innovative and can monitor and log GSM communications in real time.

The GSM Monitoring system thus developed can be configured in any LAN environment to provide a near-exact physical location of the target and to form a Central Monitoring Station. The system Auto detects, decodes and records telephone conversations, network information in to the digital media (magnetic / optical) present in the system. The system provides Interception and Monitoring of Short Message Service (SMS) traffic. The system of GSM Monitoring is intended for search, interception and registration of cellular signals on standards GSM-900/1800 in stationary or in mobile variant

The need of the hour is pointing towards a more descriptive technology of Data Monitoring as well as Data Interception.

Be Prepared: Cell Phones for Emergencies

You pull over to the side of the road. There's smoke coming out of the hood--the car has overheated.

You're halfway between your house and your parents' house for a visit.

What's the first thing you do after you pull over? I hope you have your cell phone on you.

You've been there. An emergency. Something unexpected happens, and you are far from a land line. What do you?

Thank goodness for cell phones.

My older sister said she'd never have a cell phone. She's not into high technology. But her daughter insisted. She bought my sister a cell phone and put her on her family's cell phone plan.

I breathed a sigh of relief.

My sister and her husband have retired to the southwestern desert. If they go to visit family or go on vacation, they have to drive highways where there are miles between exits. We always worried. What if their car breaks down? What if they have a health emergency? What would they do in the heat if they had to walk to get help?

There's really no better insurance than having a cell phone. And it's truly amazing the cell coverage that is available with many services any more. Even if you are out in "no man's land" there is often at least some cell coverage.

My sister never thought they'd actually have to use this cell phone in their travels. But on their way to my son's graduation in California, their car over heated in the desert. They rested a while. The car seemed alright and so they ventured on. In a couple of miles, the car started smoking and came to a dead stop.

They didn't know it then, but the water hose had broken. Thank goodness they had their cell phone and could call the auto club. And then they called all of us to let us know they would be late.

If they had not been able to call and didn't arrive on time, I would have been wringing my hands and pulling my hair. But their cell phone call put all of us at ease. The auto club got out there right away and got them to the nearest repair station. The repair shop replaced the water hose and they were on their way again.

They actually made to my son's graduation on time!

If you want a cell phone only for emergency purposes, plan on just using it occasionally, or if you don't have a lot of money to spend on a cell phone, consider a prepaid cell phone.

I just can't say enough about having a cell phone when you go on road trips. It's an absolute necessity. I can't imagine anyone going on a road trip without a cell phone!

The Computer of the Future Will be Your Mobile Phone

These days, many devices are "converging". There is nothing new about it. Everyone will tell you that in a few years time, you will be able to buy a mobile phone that is also an FM radio, digital camera, PDA, MP3 player, universal remote control, USB drive, clock, have untold wireless connectivity protocols, and computer (with web browser, email & other general computer abilities).

Many experts would hesitate to include the "computer" in the above list. They mention many technical difficulties, such as: screen resolution, keyboard, pointing device (mouse), processor speed, heat dissipation & battery life.

I argue that Similar arguments can be made about laptop/notebook PCs. Take a look at many offices today, & you will see many laptops being used as a normal desktop computer. People will connect external mice, keyboards & monitors & then you hardly notice you are using a laptop.

Now, you are also seeing many wireless keyboards & mice... All that is missing are wireless monitors. The reason that there are no wireless monitors is most likely because there are no wireless protocols that can handle the sheer volume of information that is sent to monitors.

Once wireless monitors become feasible, the paradigm shift to using your mobile phone as you PC is very easy to make.

In fact, your mobile phone will truly embody the meaning of the word "PERSONAL computer": you take it with you wherever you go. While using the built-in screen will give you limited PC functionality, as soon as you walk into your office or home, place the phone near the wireless screen/keyboard/mouse, and press the "synchronise" button on these devices, and they will automatically become extensions of your phone.

You can surf the internet, read emails, & play games using your phone as the computer, except a hi-resolution screen & a full keyboard & mouse will make it much easier to do what you want.

As far as I can see, the major piece in the puzzle that is missing, is the ability to connect a mobile to a monitor (regardless of whether the monitor is "wireless")

All the building blocks for this scenario are almost in place, so the next few years should be quite interesting.

Cell Phone

The "telephone" which was invented by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876, was the first mode of communication where in a human being can communicate with other human beings around the world.

The first "telephone" had two devices, one for speaking and one for listening. The equipment should be installed in one place with all the necessary connections like telephone wires, poles. As the necessities of human beings increased so as the technology of telephone improved. The telephone then was the model for radio, television invention. All these necessary communication devices were invented to make the activities of human beings easier.

As the technology transformed and improved so as the equipment of telephones. The "giant" equipment of telephone was transformed into a small "electronic chip". This "chip" has all the necessary technology in it which enables the human beings to listen and talk with the same device. The communication device which has this small chip embedded in it is called a "cell phone".

Cell phone is the modern trend among the human beings, they can carry along with them; communicate with other human beings around the world. The technology improves on a daily basis, so as the cell phones are equipped with new technologies like " infra red "," blue tooth "," text messaging "," Internet access "," video recorder "," camera "," gsm ", to name a few.

Cell phone technology is going to improve rapidly and so cell phones will be equipped with new facilities.

Do Cellular Phones Pose Health Risks?

You hear it in the media on a slow news day. Do cellular phones pose health risks? The available scientific reports do not show that any health problems are associated with the use of wireless phones. On the other hand, however, there is no proof that cellular phones are absolutely safe. Wireless phones emit small levels of radiofrequency energy (RF) in the microwave range when being used. As well, cell phones also emit small levels of RF when in the main menu screen.

While high levels of RF can produce health effects by heating tissue, low level exposure to RF that does not produce heating effects, cause no known adverse health effects while using cell phones.

Many studies of small level RF exposures have not found any biological effects. Some studies suggest that some biological effects may occur, but these findings have not been confirmed by additional research. In other research, expert researchers have had problems in reproducing those studies, or determining the cause for the conflicting results with respect to wireless phones.

We hope that we have been successful in reassuring our customers that there is no evidence to conclude that wireless phones pose health risks.

The Changing Face of Wireless, The Road Ahead

This was the book written by none other than Bill Gates, who has undisputedly been the king of the IT. This is irrespective of anyone accepts it or not. Sounds as if a lot is going to happen in the Wireless domain in the near future.

There was a companyรขโฌโขs vision that stated "Inventing is better than predicting". Its easier said than done.

Its just a generic view with respect to the subject intended for the Wireless/Wireline Networks and the future associated ahead. As they say, that "necessity is the mother of invention", and would dictate the terms/future. But hey, out here the technology has been moving so fast that there is absolutely no scope of collecting the necessities (Requirements, as we call it). And so many bigger giants are changing/cutting-short their turnaround cycle time to meet the customer demands. The biggest issues that are stopping growth as of today are due to the lack of standardization and inter- operatibility.

Specifics with respect to Carrier dependencies especially in the CDMA networks where the Software Applications are very closely associated to the revenue models of the carriers. And the technical support guys in the associated carriers do not understanding a bit of it. And in the worst case scenario, if the frequency itself is not supported in the deployment area.

The revenue models so far have mostly been dictated by the carrier/service providers. In fact, so many mobile manufacturing companies are facing this challenge, and putting in a lot of R & D to reduce this monopoly of the network service providers.

What is the Road ahead, where are we headed towards. As a user, as a developer, as a carrier service provider, or as an Application provider/Content Aggregator/Content provider. The device manufacturing firms are already feeling the heat due to carrier dependencies, but still they have a big pie as the hardware as well as OS is owned by a stake of most of the biggest device manufacturing giants. But what happens when embedded OS'es like e-linux mature hitting the cost implication substantially. As most of the major players own a stake there (Symbian), and a free alternative to OS which is much matured than Symbian is bound to make a news.

On the hardware side, ARM enjoys the dominance. And the other players are far behind, the way in which R&D in hardware industry are on, looks as if there is bound to be some competition to get generated here also.

Would this result in the device manufacturing companies giving application support directly and also tailoring the functionalities so that the dominance of carriers is reduced. To the engineer's, its definitely going to be an enjoyable experience.

What is the Difference Between Satellite Phone and Cellular Phone?

Satellite phone and Cellular phones are wireless devices. They almost look alike. But the way they work is totally different. Cellular phones working method is cell based. That is why they are called cellular phones. The whole network area is divided into small areas. And in each area an antenna is installed. These are also called towers. When a cellular phone is moving, it keeps entering from one cell to another. When it crosses the border of one cell, the phone sends a signal to the MTSO (Mobile Telephone Switching Office). With the help of control channel the database of the MTSO relocates the phone in a new cell or area. The MTSO and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) coordinate to handle cellular calls.

But in the contrary Satellite phones use Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) satellites. With the turning on of the satellite phone a signal goes up to the any number of satellites of a group with whom the phone is registered. When a person makes a call from the handset, a signal goes to the near by orbiting satellite. The satellite connects to the gateway or ground station. Then the gateway takes the call to the destination. The call can be directed to the landline, cellular phone or PSTN. Any of the landlines, cell phone or PSTN can also call a satellite phone. In the case of satellite phones the gateway takes care of calls not cells as in the case of cellular phones. If a satellite phone calls another satellite phone, the call reaches a ground station through a satellite. Then it goes up to the air to a satellite and then the call reaches the destination phone. So the gateway processes the switching of calls not the satellite.

What is a Trac Phone?

Having a cell phone today is a must have. So many people are on the go, need to communicate with others while they are off, and running. Cell phones can be expensive if you are not careful about how you use them. There is a way to stay on a budget and still talk on the go. You can do this with a trac phone. They are the newest invention in pre paid phones.

With a trac phone, you will buy the actual phone for a good low price and then you simply buy airtime talk minutes and add them to your phone. It is simple and fun. You can purchase your trac phone at most electronic stores and the cards are sold there and at almost any department store as well. You will find that getting a trac phone will help you a lot and keep you on a strict calling budget.

When you buy the phone, you must first activate it. You will have to call a toll free number or go online to do this. You will enter the EMI numbers and a code and you are all set. Once you have your phone activated, you can then enter a prepaid card for airtime. You can also do this online or on the phone.

To keep adding airtime, you simply enter the card numbers into the prepaid selection on the phone. You can find the cards to be in any denomination that you want. You can get ten minutes, fifty minutes and even one hundred air time minutes for your trac phone. Of course, the more minutes you want, the more you will pay for your card.

Paying for the trac phone cards and the trac phone is still less than you would pay for a monthly service fee for a regular cell phone. You will pay less and still have all the use that you want. You can still receive phone calls and even make text messages. The only difference is that you are in control so that you do not go over your desired amount of minutes. Your phone will keep you notified of the minutes or units that you have left on the cards.

You may have to also activate cards at certain times. Most of the phones require that you activate a pre paid card at least every three months. Trac phones allow you to add airtime at any given point, however, you must do it before the allotted scheduled time or you may face disconnection. If this happens, all you have to do is reactivate your phone online or over the telephone. It is not a big ordeal and can be taken care of easily.

Having a trac phone will give you freedom and keep you in line when it comes to your spending habits. You will have the security of knowing that you can call when you need to and also know that you can add as much air time as you want to your phone. You will enjoy your phone and not having to worry about high monthly cell phone bills.

Polyphonic Ringtones - A Useful Babysitting Aid?

Polyphonic ringtones have turned cell phones from an ordinary communication tool into a multi functional device with a variety of purposesรขโฌโone of which is entertaining bored children.

As a father of an active toddler, I often find myself in situations where my child is a) about to break something very expensive, b) screaming in a public place. The most obvious solution, of course, would be to give him a toy to keep him amused. But as any parent knows, toys do not work when they are supposed to. They will be flung to the floor (or worse, at the strangers sitting at the next table). In emergency situations like that, I bring out my phone.

Thereรขโฌโขs something about the polyphonic ringtones that provide a hypnotic, calming effect on small children. They listen to it, over and over again. My sonรขโฌโขs favourite, the end credit theme of Sponge Bob, has been known to keep him seated in one place for five minutes. For an 18 month old, thatรขโฌโขs nothing short of a miracle.

For that reason, I always keep a number of polyphonic tones that my son might like. The Barney Songรขโฌโthe anthem of all toddlers and their unfortunate parentsรขโฌโis armed and ready whenever we enter a restaurant. There is also, for some mysterious reason, Brian McKnightรขโฌโขs "One Last Cry." I donรขโฌโขt know why he likes it, or even when he first heard it, but we use it whenever he goes to the paediatrician and needs to stay still for a shot. (For those who will accuse me of not raising my child properly by exposing him to cheesy ballads, I defend myself by saying that he also likes The Beatles and John Coltrane.) Yes, even the most modern songs have been converted into polyphonic tunes. Of course the classics are thereรขโฌโmy wifeรขโฌโขs "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" sounds particularly fairy-like in its polyphonic form. Download whatever you like. Or whatever your child likes, even if you hate it, because we all know heรขโฌโขs the boss.

I have a theory that the reason children like polyphonic tones is that it has that music box quality: delicate, tinkling rhythms. Though deeper and less metallic than the blips of music boxes of old, it still sounds equally as magical to the innocent ears of a child. And, of course, there is the advantage that polyphonic tunes are now more diverse than the standard music box themes of Fur Elise, and I do not have to deal with a pink ballerina. (Barney is bad enough.)

Who wouldรขโฌโขve thought that a mobile phone could be such a useful babysitting aid, or that polyphonic ring tones would rank as high as disposable diapers in the parentsรขโฌโข list of modern inventions to be thankful for. While it does have a lot of uses in the adult worldรขโฌโwith everyone in the room carrying a mobile phone, having a unique ring tone lets you know when itรขโฌโขs your callรขโฌโits greatest contribution to society is the peace it provides frazzled parents. Yes, music does have the power to soothe the "savage beasts".

Pay-as-you-go Cell Can Save You Money

You can save money by purchasing a pre-paid cellular phone.

Pre-paid and pay-as-you-go cellular phone plans allow you to buy time as you need it. Minutes are usually purchased via a voucher card that is worth so many minutes. You simply activate the minutes when you need them.

You may have already looked at a pre-paid plan. You will notice that you aren't saving per minute. In fact, pay-as-you-go plans cost you more per minute. The plans are ideal for emergency use, for those who don't make hardly any calls per months and for teenagers and children.

With a pre-paid plan, you aren't locked into a typical cell phone contract that lasts two years. You are free to stop purchasing minutes at any time. The main advantage to pre-paid cells is that you can't go over your minutes and run up several hundred of dollars without knowing it. Your phone won't use more minutes than you have dollars.

In general, this is what makes pre-paid cell phones ideal for teens and pre-teens. It seems as if you are old enough to talk on a phone, you have your own cell phone. With a pre-paid plan, you know exactly how many minutes your children are using. Some cell phone companies offer phones for children that only dial three or four numbers that you preset. This also helps to eliminate a large cellular phone bill out of the blue.

Most pre-paid plans will cost you from $10 for 30 minutes to $80 for 400 minutes, depending on the company. Minutes often expire after one month to a year, so make sure you know how long your minutes are good before you start saving them up.

Pre-paid plans usually come with the basics of call waiting, voice mail and national long distance. There may be restrictions to calling within certain areas or other restrictions. Make sure you read the fine print thoroughly.

You know, with pre-paid cell phone plans, no one should have to ask you to put them on your account. They are a great option for your children, or for those who rarely ever use a cell phone.

Compare the price of the pre-paid service minutes with a regular cell phone package. You might find that one is absolutely cheaper than the other. But make sure you look at all the details before you make your decision.

Yes, a pre-paid plan costs you more per minute. But it keeps you from going over your plan and having $.40 a minute tacked onto your calls. For example, if you pay $80 for 400 minutes, you are basically paying twenty cents per minute. You could purchase a cellular contract plan for around $39.99 for 400 minutes. That equals around ten cents per minute.

But if you were to go over your contract minutes, you will most likely have to start paying $.40 per minute on all calls over your plan. You would only have to go over by 100 minutes to break even with the pre-paid plan. With the pre-paid plan, you can't go over.

With a pre-paid phone, you may be paying more per minute, but you have a control set in place that prevents you from spending more than you budget for your cellular phone.

Protect Yourself from Cell Phone Bugs

Do you have conversations over the phone that you do not want others to hear? If so, then it may be necessary to protect yourself from cell phone bugs. Cell phone bugs are just as high tech as many other bugs, and can pose even more of a threat, since they are harder to detect. Depending on the bug that is used to listen to your conversation, you might not even realize that someone nearby can hear every word crystal clear.

Even if most of your conversations are of little importance, it is a good idea to make sure that you are well protected against cell phone bugs when you make a vital phone call. It is possible to decrease your chances of being listened to if you follow a few simple steps to avoid eavesdroppers.

Go somewhere where you know youรขโฌโขll be alone. Some cell phone bugs intercept signals being sent. A person who looks like she or he is speaking on a cell phone has a special device that allows him or her to hear what you are saying on the phone. Additionally, make sure you are in a place where you can watch for newcomers.

Beware the charging or forgotten phone. Many cell phone bugs look just like they are charging or like their owner forgot them. If see a cell phone charging or lying nearby unattended, go someplace else. Someone may be listening in via the innocent looking phone.

Donรขโฌโขt accept new cell phones as gifts. The latest in cell phone bugs is a phone that works like a regular phone, but has a secret access number. If someone gives you a cell phone as a gift, be aware that he or she may be able to dial the phone and not only listen to what you saying while you are on the phone, but activate the cell phoneรขโฌโขs microphone in order to hear anything that is going on inside the room.

With a little vigilance, you can avoid eavesdroppers through cell phone bugs. Best of all, if you use ingenuity you can "plant" false information for eager ears. You can outsmart surveillance and the use of cell phone bugs.

Cellphones - How To Personalize Your Cell Phone With A New Face

Most mobile handphones or cell-phones allow you to change the outer look by using different housing, removing the original housing and using newer snap-on housing.

If you have a worn-out looking cellphone, or the appearance is just dull, boring and scratched, you can easily renew its appearance by using a newer housing.

There is a caveat though. There are cell-phones that do not allow you to change anything yourself, and any changes in the housing must be done at their own authorized service center or your warranty will be voided.

Changing the housing or the faceplate is the first step in personalizing your cell-phone.

Secondly, you can change to different color LEDs for your screen, especially if you have a monochrome screen phone.

To really make your cell-phone different from many others, you can choose from a variety of keypad styles. You can even select a keypad that glows in the dark,

If your cell-phone has a visible antenna, you can also use that as a special attraction by changing it to an antenna that can light up when there is an incoming call. This will easily make your cell-phone stands out among the others when you get a call and you are among your friends!

If you are want a completely new look to your housing, you can "skin" your phone with patterns. Apart from protecting it from wear and tear, you can check out how much it costs to have your phone skinned by your cell-phone service center.

A cheaper alternative to personalize your cell-phone apart from skinning is to stick phone stickers, or use fashion straps or decorative accessories. You can keep up to the latest in trends and fashions by matching pouches to your new phone. For example, when the X-Men movie is shown, you can have the X-Men characters on that pouch, or fashion the pouch in the form of a soccer ball during the World Cup Soccer competition or fashion it in the form of a baseball during the Baseball competition season!

An Introduction to Text Messaging

Why Text?

Text messaging is a quick way to stay in touch with people for personal or business purposes. With text messaging, you can chat with a partner by typing on the keyboard and reading what they write to you on the screen. Many text messaging products can work with cell phone text messaging (aka SMS or Short Messaging Service) so you can chat with people who arenรขโฌโขt in front of their computer. So, why not just pick up the phone and talk?

Itรขโฌโขs faster than e-mail and phone calls. And you donรขโฌโขt have to pay anything to text. If you need to chat with someone briefly or ask a quick question, itรขโฌโขs much less intrusive than calling someone. As with most developing technologies, several types of text messaging are available and each one is incompatible with the others. But donรขโฌโขt let that keep you from trying it out. The main text messaging products are ICQ (www.icq.com), MSN Messenger (www.msn.com), AIM (www.aim.com), and Yahoo Messenger (www.yahoo.com).

btw (By the Way...)

Each one is free and simple to download, install, and sign up. You can locate your "buddies" by searching in an online directory by their screen name, e-mail address, name, or telephone number. Once you get the hang of it, text messaging can be extremely addictive. As you continue to use text messaging, you will find yourself learning to abbreviate words and sentences. When you leave an online chat, you might say BRB (Be Right Back), Iรขโฌโขm afk (away from the keyboard), or TTYL (Talk to You Later). See glossary below.

Some text messaging products are beginning to offer voice and video chat. The future of digital communication is an integrated product, since voice, video, interactive text messaging, and e-mail are all effective means of communication. In the future, you will be able to switch between text, voice, and video with ease. Until then, we will continue to use different methods for different communication needs :-(

Cellular Phone Ringtone

A cellular phone ringtone is a sound file that is played by a cellular phone. The facility was originally provided so that people would be able to determine when their phone was ringing when in the company of other mobile phone owners.

Cellular phone ringtones are melodic sounds a cellular phone makes when an incoming call or message arrives. Since cellular phones are significantly more sophisticated than most landline phones, cellular phone ringtones can be personalized to suit the owner's personal taste. A variety of cellular phone ringtones has appealed to consumers, increasing handsets sell-ability.

Popularity of Cellular Phone Ringtones

Cellular phone ringtones, along with operator logos, have proven a popular method of personalizing phones รขโฌโ newer phones include features to allow users to create their own cellular phone ringtones. Many people enjoy their personalization of the phones, but some find certain cellular phone ringtones annoying in public and in certain situations.

Many companies have set up businesses selling cellular phone ringtones, advertising them on television and web sites. One criticism of the industry is the subscription some companies lock customers into, requiring them to actively cancel their account or be charged for unwanted messages and cellular phone ringtones sent to them on a weekly basis.

The sale of cellular phone ringtones has also been a massive boost to the record industry, earning them extra revenues through royalties.

The newer phones equipped with Bluetooth or PC-link up however, allow users to transfer cellular phone ringtones created on a PC, to their phone, for free. The user could even record themselves or their own cellular phone ringtones and place them on the phone.

There are a number of reasons consumers use distinct cellular phone ringtones: Distinguish Callers - Advanced feature sets allow for different cellular phone ringtone sounds to signify different callers. Identification - When you are in a meeting and a phone rings you will know if itรขโฌโขs yours through your cellular phone ringtone Fun - Although some people find these cellular phone ringtones 'irritating', they have particular appeal among younger phone owners.

Cellular phone ringtone advertising campaigns have become hugely popular, though they have also attracted a great deal of criticism.

An alternative to a cellular phone ringtone is a vibrating alert. It is especially useful in noisy environments or in places where cellular phone ringtone noise would be disturbing to the hearing impaired

Types of Cellular Phone Ringtones

There are typically three different types of cellular phone ringtones: monophonic cellular phone ringtones, polyphonic cellular phone ringtones and music cellular phone ringtones.

Monophonic Cellular Phone Ringtones

Monophonic cellular phone ringtones are simple tunes, most commonly compatible with today's cell phones. The majority of cell phones can only make a single tone at a time. The monophonic cellular phone ringtone is comprised of a series of sequential tones at different frequencies.

Polyphonic Cellular Phone Ringtones

Polyphonic cellular phone ringtones are played on cellular phones that have the capability of playing up to 16 separate tones at once. The combination of cellular phone ringtones creates a harmonic melody. Polyphonic cellular phone ringtones are more musical than a monophonic cellular phone ringtone. Newer phones support polyphonic cellular phone ringtones.

Music Cellular Phone Ringtones

A new version of cellular phone ringtones, often called either music cellular phone ringtones, voice tones, realtones or true tones, now use actual pieces of music, along with all lyrics and the entire song backing music, including backing singers. They are usually contained in MP3, WMA,WAV, QCP, or AMR format that can be used as a cellular phone ringtone on many Series 60, Symbian or smartphones. Many cell phone manufacturers are including voice cellular phone ringtones on most of their newly released phones, including Motorola, Nokia and Sony Ericsson.

Finding Cellular Phone Ringtones & Cellular Phone Ringtone Compatibility

There are a number of websites that offer free cellular phone ringtones, graphics or even games to download onto your cell phone. The websites vary in that some allow you to purchase specific cellular phone ringtones while others offer subscriptions that allow you to download an unlimited number of cellular phone ringtones. When you locate a cellular phone ringtone be sure to first ensure that it will work with your cellular phone model and that the site is respectful of the artists copyright. Like any original work, artists receive royalties for cellular phone ringtones, be sure that the website has the permission to distribute the cellular phone ringtone.

Telephones - A History - The Beginnings

This begins a series of articles on one of the greatest and most important inventions of all time, the telephone.

The period was the 1870s. During that time two inventors by the name of Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell both independently laid out the design for devices that could allow people to transmit their speech by electronic means. The two of them rushed their inventions to the patent office, literally within hours of each other. Never before in history had this happened and it hasn't happened since. It turned out that Bell patented his phone first and was given credit for the invention. Gray and Bell then got into a very famous legal battle over this patent which Bell ultimately won. So right from the beginning, history could have turned out differently.

The telegraph, which was already in existence at the time, was a wire based system just like Bell's telephone. In reality, Bell's success with the telephone was from his attempts to actually improve the telegraph. The telephone was just an accident from these attempts.

When Bell began working with and experimenting with electrical signals, the telegraph had already been in existence for over 30 years and was an established means of communication. And even though, for the time, it was a fairly sophisticated system using dot and dash Morse code, the telegraph was still limited to sending just one message at a time and was very slow. It was Bell's understanding of sound and of music that made it so that he was able to visualise sending multiple messages over the same wire at the same time. Even though the idea of a multiple telegraph had existed for quite some time, Bell argued that his musical and harmonic idea was the best solution to this problem. He said that different notes could be sent over the telegraph at the same time if they were of different pitch.

It wasn't until 1874, in October of that year, that Bell's research had gotten to the point where he could tell his future father in law, attorney Gardiner Hubbard, about his idea of the multiple telegraph. Hubbard was against the total control that Western Union telegraph had over the industry and thought that this invention had the potential for breaking up such a powerful monopoly. Because of this, he gave Bell the financial backing that he needed. It was at that time after receiving the money that Bell began work on his multiple telegraph. What he didn't tell Hubbard was that he and a man by the name of Thomas Watson, an electrician he had hired to help him, were also working on an idea that Bell had come up with that summer. The idea was to create a device that could transmit speech electrically. The reason that Bell didn't tell Hubbard about this idea was twofold. For one thing, he didn't want to get him excited about something that quite possibly wouldn't happen. Also, he didn't want to risk the possibility of losing backing because he was working on other things besides what they agreed on. So he kept this a secret.

In the next part in this series we'll pick up with Bell's meeting with the director of the Smithsonian Institute, Joseph Henry.

Cellular Phone Rental

Nowadays, you can go to every corner of the world with a wireless phone that fits in your hand and works the minute you arrive overseas. Whether it is a business trip or a leisure travel, you are assured the best cellular phone rental for the amount of time you need. Cellular phone rental is the cheapest way for the casual traveler to have the latest phone with the full assurance that it works in the country of his destination.

Depending on your requirement, you could have several types of cellular phone rental:

International Cellular Phone Rental Before having an international cellular phone rental, you'll need to decide if you will have a cellular phone rental in the United States or rent it when you get to your destination country. In addition, you should decide whether you want to have an online cellular phone rental, which offers great prices or have a cellular phone rental at the airport, where you pay extra for the convenience.

International cellular phone rental enables the international business and leisure traveler to stay connected in more than 170 countries throughout the world with just one cellular phone rental. Almost all of the cellular phone rental solutions providers include 24 hour global support, 365 days a year. The portfolio of international cellular phone rental companies includes the most advanced products and services available from leading brands in the industry. Each service is tailored to meet the demanding needs of the frequent business traveler yet convenient and affordable for the leisure traveler simply wishing to stay in touch with the family.

Steps:

1. Check with your existing cellular company, before you get a cellular phone rental, because your existing US cell phone may work overseas. While most US cell phones do not work abroad, some phones on the GSM standard do.

2. Plan on putting down a security deposit with your credit card, and figure on possibly paying delivery and pick-up charges from $20 to $50. Some cellular phone rental companies provide a postage-paid envelope for you to mail the phone back to them. Other cellular phone rental companies will request that you pick up and drop off your phone at the airport.

3. Compare cellular phone rental rates from different companies, because there may be special calling plans that will save money for incoming phone calls from the United States. Just make sure you compare identical services so you'll know which cellular phone rental company has the best deal.

4. Figure on spending anywhere from $30 to $50 per week or $7 to $8 per day on cellular phone rentals overseas. If you'll be staying a month or more, your cellular phone rental charges will vary from $50 to $150 for each month.

5. Ask your travel agent, your destination hotel concierge in advance, your company travel office, or your contacts in the foreign country. These people will be able to direct you to legitimate cellular phone rental companies.

6. Consider having a cellular phone rental at international airports, because they have kiosks for cellular phone rental. These will be more expensive than renting one locally; however, you may prefer the convenience of picking it up and dropping it off at the airport. 7. Check with different international car rental agencies. You may get a free cellular phone rental or a price that is discounted from retail. Find out all charges associated with your "free" phone in advance.

Tips:

Consider buying an internationally compatible cell phone if you will be traveling overseas often. You will wind up saving considerable money by doing this as compared to having an overseas cellular phone rental. Cellular phone rental rates vary widely. Compare them carefully before making a final decision, and watch out for "free" phones that have expensive "service" charges.

Satellite Cellular Phone Rental

Satellite cellular phone rental makes staying connected on a cruise simple; satellite cellular phone rentals ensure you will never worry about being out of touch while aboard a cruise ship. Satellite phones work while out at sea and when you are docked at port. There are multiple options depending on your destinations, ports and the level of coverage you require.

A satellite phone is the answer.

Steps:

1. Choose from three types of satellite cellular phone rentals. The most portable and affordable choice is the handheld voice and slow data phone. Decide on a high quality voice and basic data phone if you want affordable best voice quality. Get a high quality voice and fast data phone for the fastest data transfer and best voice quality.

2. Consider portability when having a satellite cellular phone rental in the U.S. Even the smallest phones are about the weight of a walkie-talkie.

3. Plan to pay $50 to $450 a week just for the satellite cellular phone rental; the cost depends on the type of phone you get. This cost does not include extras. You'll also have to pay for average daily minimum usage of 3 minutes or more. Outgoing calls cost between $1.25 and $3.00 a minute or more.

4. Have a higher end satellite cellular phone rental if you need it to be water resistant. Have a cellular phone rental with standard wireless added if you want to be able to use your satellite phone indoors.

5. Look for cellular phone rental deals that include voice mail, a lower cost per minute for outgoing calls, and lower or free delivery costs. Look for good deals on renting a data cable, which can cost $2.00 a day.

6. Plan to pay insurance - it's a requirement from some cellular phone rental companies. It will cost another $28 to $42 per week.

7. Get referrals from friends, co-workers, and other people in your profession, who use satellite phones with the services you want, to choose the best cellular phone rental scheme.

8. Look for phones with nearly instant bills when you return the phone.

Tips:

Shop around and don't forget going online to get the best cellular phone rental deal. Don't plan to use your satellite phone for long calls home, unless you have unlimited funds.

Cellular Service - All about the Network?

Is cellular service in the US really all about the network? In some cases, the answer is yes, it does. Any reliable on-line quote for service should come with detailed information on the vendorsรขโฌโข coverage area. Besides that, I'll take a rather high-level look at cellular providers starting with a bit of history.

Anyone remember the days of telephone company deregulation of the 80's? When this first occurred, I for one was not ready to switch my long distance carrier. After all, it WAS about the network. I wasn't about to leave a tried and true, big name provider for a company just starting out.

Fast forward to today. I've dumped my big name provider and went with a much smaller company. Why? Because the networks are far more advanced then they once were. Competition among carriers is fierce. I cannot tell any difference in quality between the big name and the company I chose. The cost, however, is much less than what I was paying.

The point?

The 'networks' are much more reliable and have to be in order for a company to stay competitive.

What does this have to do with cellular service? Well, it's the same thing. Most of my family and friends have cellular service. Between them, there are a number of different providers represented. When I ask any of them what they think of their service? Quality of calls, signal strength, picture taking, ring-tones, etc. they are all happy with the service they have. Apparently each of the different networks is just as good as the other.

So, is cellular service really all about the network? I would say no, it's all about the 'deal'. Because the industry is so competitive, I would look for free shipping, free phone and cash rebates along with the monthly rate. For the people I spoke to, these are the important factors. Now add in the ability for number porting (keeping your existing phone number when switching providers) and the competition for your business really heats up.

The biggest complaint I've heard from friends and family is that once they sign their contract, that's pretty much then end of it. Better deals are being offered all the time to 'new' customers but not to the 'existing' customer. Sure, they may get a newer phone, but not the same as what's being offered to 'new' customers. I expect this to change very soon especially considering number porting. If a vendor wants to keep their customer base, they better start to offer the same deals to 'existing' customers as they do new ones.

Until that time, take your phone number and shop for a better deal.

I would look online first, as the better deals tend to be online. Why? Cost. Not only is it cheaper to reach a large group of consumers online, itรขโฌโขs very cost effective.

When shopping for your next cellular calling plan, remember thatรขโฌโขs itรขโฌโขs not just the network you should be concerned about. The consumer is in charge here. Whenever competition becomes fierce, the smart consumer generally comes out ahead!

Mobile Phone Videos

Mobile phones have come a long way since their launch more than 30 years ago. Once a rarity it is now rarer to meet someone who doesnรขโฌโขt have a mobile phone.

Originally designed as a means to communicating with people whilst on the move, today they are becoming a part of our lives that few people would ever want to give up.

What was once just a means to talk to people, modern mobile phones can now send pictures, sms text messages, email, sounds and now mobile video clips to each other. They have become the ultimate mini pc and include megapixel digital cameras, web browsers, digital camcorders, address books, personal planners, instant messengers and a whole lot more.

It is easy to see why people sometimes feel naked when they suddenly realize they have left their mobile phones at home.

Recording and sending mobile video is tipped to be more popular than sending an SMS text message. The use for this new technology is only limited by your own imagination and creativeness. Pictures can be far more powerful than words alone.

For example: Youรขโฌโขre sat at your desk at work in a windowless building, your boss has just told you the project that you have spent the last six months on is to be shelved, your feeling down but then all of a sudden you have a new message on your mobile phone. You open it up to see your wife has just sent you a video of your baby taking their first crawl across the floor. Suddenly life makes sense again.

Your in a bar having a drink with colleagues when all of a sudden your favourite celebrity walks in. Keen to share this moment with your friends you quickly get out your mobile phone, record the moment and send it to your friends instantly for them to see.

Not one to miss out on an opportunity the mobile phone content providers soon created their own mobile phone videos ranging from "Happy Birthday", "Messages of Love", "Music Videos" to "Cartoons" video clips.

They are becoming increasing popular not only for personal enjoyment but as messages we can send to friends and family. Whatever the occasion, there is a suitable mobile phone video clip for you.

What You Need To Know About Choosing A Cell Phone Provider

Cell phones have become an integral part of the daily lives of most consumers, and that means that the choice of which cell phone provider to use is a very important one. After all, the cell phone itself can only be as good as the network it is connected to. So here are a few important tips that you need to know about how to choose a cell phone service provider.

As far as performance and customer service are concerned, most consumer surveys that have been conducted in the last couple of years indicate that two cell phone companies seem to perform best overall, and that is Verizon and T-Mobile. Both Sprint and Cingular did not receive nearly as many positive comments from cell phone users.

However, this alone should not be the determining factor in which cell phone network that you choose to use, as both performance and service can vary dramatically from one location or area of the country to another. So a better way to get a good idea of the quality of service to you can expect from a cell phone provider in your particular area is to simply ask your family, friends and acquaintances about their experiences with their cell phone provider. No doubt, you will get quite an earful about their opinions, both positive and negative. These can be very useful if you include enough people in your informal survey, as usually clear patterns can begin to develop after you have queried enough local cell phone users.

Another consideration when selecting a cell phone provider is how you plan on using the phone on their system. There are two major digital networks that are in use in the US today, and they are CDMA and GSM. If your cell phone usage requires you to make phone calls from time to time in rural areas where there is no digital service, you'll want to select a service provider that uses the CDMA network, because it allows for analog roaming in areas where a digital signal cannot be found.

On the other hand, if you travel internationally, you may want to consider getting a cell phone on a GSM network instead, as this kind of network is in wide usage internationally. What that means for you is that if you travel outside the US, you would be able to take your cell phone with you and use it as you normally would because of its compatibility with the overseas networks. Just check to see which kind of network is used by the cell phone providers in your area to decide on which will best fit your needs.

In order to protect yourself when choosing a cell phone service plan, it would be a good idea to only sign up for one year of service at a time. Although the cell phone companies will want to sell you service plans that cover a longer period of time and may be less expensive than the long run, it still may be best to try a cell phone provider in your area for only a year at a time to begin with, allowing you to determine the quality of their service and performance without being tied to a long-term commitment.

Hopefully, these tips and suggestions will help you find the best cell phone service plan for your needs and save you money too.
